In my art practice I often employed the aesthetic of oriental
art. Through my series of work, I have explored the notion of belonging.
It is reflecting the social phenomenon, which we have encountered. I am
interested in the subject of social phenomenon (culturally) and the affect
of different experiences. This series seeks the balance between the familiar
and unfamiliar. It is also a projection of different experiences of immigrants
in different environments.
The conceptual idea of my photography series is working across with the
idea of ‘alienation’. The idea of been alienated from the familiar
and becoming isolated in their own environment. The contrast between images
was illustrated by colours and oriental objects (i.e. shoes and cloth pattern).
The doll like red shoes were surrounded by wild environments; and the featureless
face along with the detail and delicate pattern outline the sense of exiled
from the familiar and unfamiliar. |
