I have utilised the Mezzotint Print process working with
autobiographical narratives to create images that are atmospheric with
a dreamscape quality. Humour is visible superficially, but on closer inspection
the work communicates a visual language that expresses emotional concerns
around self-identity.
I have fashioned my drawing style to recall the influence of illustrated
books from my childhood. It is my intention to capture and visualise a
drawing style that would have appealed to me as a child, quirky with menacing
undertones. I work in a small scale to emphasize the intimate nature of
my work, inviting the viewer to observe it closely. |
