  Jung Hee SEO's self-portraits continue on with this exploration of cultural and individual identity. Born in Korea but living in New Zealand, she is constantly drawn to differences of culture and lifestyle. Spurred on by the unfamiliar, she translates this idea of comparison onto other aspects of her work, dealing with the binaries of the public and private, and the present and hidden. She is of the view that each person has different aspects to their personality, some of which might be apparent to the audience, some of which might be hidden. By focusing on herself as subject she draws attention to the importance of her own experiences and allows the viewer to project themselves in place of the artist, re-writing their own views by imagining someone else's.
