The code of life's timelessness and the moments defined within our existence, our identity and physicality within moments in time and those memories, which construct our consciousness.
Images are sourced from photographic collections of women, as children. They belong to different times, circumstances and ethnic groups. The photographic image serves as the original misc-en-scène , the snapshot a literal, constructed trace of being, images belonging only to the mental map of their memory. This notion of identity has been destabilised with intentional imperfection, by the manipulation of the original photograph. Cropping, slicing away parts, to become something else in the process of printmaking.
The images are of ourselves, a mirror of a past life, they are a construction of a moment; they are reassurance of a proof of being there, a trace, a certificate of presence and ultimately the disappearance.
